Meet The Massage Therapist

Many people come in for Injury Rehabilitation, while others are seeking more of a relaxing and restorative form of BodyWork.  Sessions can be with lotion on the bare skin, or can be performed with active-wear clothing on, depending on client preference.  For those seeking regular weekly or bi-weekly treatment, Abhik will customize your sessions to be comfortable and nurturing, increasing overall well-being and vitality. However, many clients come in for brief therapy, when needed.  Regular treatment sessions are advised one to four times per month, for most people who recognize the benefits of Abhik's careful and respectful style of Massage Therapy.

Abhik grew up in Potomac, Maryland and later travelled extensively on the West-coast and lived 8 years in Hawaii, apprenticing in Natural Healing Modalities and Native Cultural practices.  He was also trained by Native American Healers and Medicine Elders in the Pacific NorthWest region, with Robin Tekwelis Youngblood and Fred Jamison.

HIs Undergraduate degree is in Psychology and he has also done Graduate training in Multi-Ethnic Social Work.  In his high-school years , Abhik worked in the Tropical Medicine Department at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, and also apprenticed in the Neuro-Sciences Department.  His primary research was related to anti-Malaria agents, and his work was published in a major journal, under his mentor Colonel Russell Coleman.

His Massage Therapy training is from HeartWood Institute and Twin Lakes College, both in California.  Further training in Hawaiian Massage was through Long-Life LomiLomi under Dr. Dane Silva.  Botanical medicine has also been a major area of study for Abhik and he has been practicing and studying Herbalism for more than 20 years.  He can offer advice from his expereince for many health conditions and has helped many people in this way, complementing his services in Manual Therapy.

If you are seeking an excellent Massage Therapist, someone who is sensitive, strong, and nurturing, with over two decades of practice and education, Abhik is your MassageTherapist of choice.
